VATA (vah-tah) was born out of pure love for the people of the Pacific Islands. VATA is the Fijian word for “together,” and embodies our philosophy that together we can impact lives and change the world, and that we don't have to settle for being an average clothing company. Based out of  Northern Utah, we create high-quality custom designed hats and clothes and donate a percentage of profits to providing clean water sources for rural communities in the South Pacific.

Founders Spencer Cordner and Andrew Taylor have been friends for as long as they can remember and have always had entrepreneurial minds. Over the years, they became heavily involved in service and humanitarian aid which led Spencer to live in rural Fiji for two years. His most thought provoking memories were being offered water while visiting with local families. More often than not, water was scooped up from a muddy puddle in the street or from a metal drum filled with moldy water.

The health concerns stemming from the lack of clean water, along with other issues facing those in poverty, convinced Spencer and Andrew that the next company they started together needed to do more and be more. Enlisting the help of their wives, Kamilla and Allie, Andrew and Spencer started The VATA Project in 2017 as an original clothing company with a mission to solve the clean water and poverty problem in the South Pacific.

Recently re-branded as VATA Hat Co., the company continues their original model of service, adventure, and love for other cultures by donating a percentage of sales directly to humanitarian efforts for communities in the South Pacific. These projects include installation and purchase of water tanks, supplies for school children, and much more.

“We are so lucky to be surrounded by the people that we are today. Since starting in 2017, VATA has received the most amazing support and love from so many people all over the world. We are here to change lives and we cannot wait to see where VATA takes us next."

"Together, we can make a difference.”
